Project description
The organisation’s experience shows that long-term unemployed are incapable of unassisted return to social activities. They struggle with a variety of issues: poor qualifications, low self-esteem, addiction, indebtedness, trouble with the law, and they need at least one year for re-adapting. They have neither access nor motivation to take advantage of culture, psychological support or legal aid.
The project purpose was to reduce the marginalisation of the long-term unemployed by activating them socially and culturally, and providing them with access to psychological aid and legal counselling.
One hundred and seventy-one persons attended culture workshops, cooking classes, journalism-and-reporting, photography, and psycho-educational workshops, and cultural events. Participants published their work (articles and photographs) in the “Gazeta Uliczna” newspaper. A meeting venue fitted with computers and web access was organised.
The following themed workshops were delivered: 61 “Around Culture” meetings for 110 attendants, 55 journalism and reporting meetings for 103 attendants, 43 photography meetings for 43 attendants, 18 psycho-educational meetings for 58 attendants, and 7 self-presentation meetings for 33 attendants.
Legal counselling (14 expert duty sessions, 33 participants) and psychological consulting (6 expert duty sessions, 5 participants) was provided. Seven cultural outings were organised.
Project beneficiaries included 171 marginalised persons (unemployed or with lowest income and major self-realisation issues) from Poznań and the local area.
